The Arbo Heel Bead Glazing System

Method

  1. Ensure that the glazing surfaces are clean, dry and free from all contamination. It is possible to use this system without a primer providing that the base coat/primer coat is in good sound condition. Base coats should be renewed after a maximum of 3 months exposure. If in doubt prime the timber glazing surfaces with Arbo Primer 2650.

  2. Apply Arboseal GZ Glazing Tape to the upstand of the rebate positioned flush with or slightly above the sight line and finishing at least 3mm from the edge of the glass. Ensure that the tapes abut at the corner joints but do not overlap. Carefully remove the backing paper.

  3. Apply a fillet of LM Silicone into the corner of the glazing platform around the perimeter of the frame beneath the tape to partially fill the void around the insulating glass unit or glass.

  4. Position setting blocks on the glazing platform in accordance with BS 8000 Part 7 - 1990.

  5. Place the insulating glass unit or glass onto the setting blocks ensuring it is centralised within the frame. Press the unit or glass firmly against the upstand of the frame squeezing the LM Silicone between glass and frame.

  6. Apply LM Silicone to solidly fill the remainder of the void around the unit or glass, finishing with a fillet pointing forward of the unit or glass to ensure that the void below the Arboseal GZ is solidly filled when the beads are fixed in position.

  7. Apply Arboseal GZ Glazing Tape to the glazing face of the beads positioned flush with or slightly above the sight line and finishing at least 3mm from the edge of the glass. Ensure that the tapes abut at the corner joints but do not overlap. Carefully remove the backing paper.

  8. Bed the beads to the platform using LM Silicone. Push the beads into position ensuring that the Arboseal GZ is under compression and fix the beads using either rust proof pins or screws in accordance with BS 8000 Part 7 - 1990.

  9. Trim off any excess Arboseal GZ Tape preferably to a slight chamfer where necessary.
